    Reducing Disproportionality in Special Education:
    Together We Can!
     

    Webinar Format: Sessions will be 90 minutes in length. Whenever possible, sessions will include a
    brief overview of current research on the selected topic, a sharing of effective or promising practices from
    a state and one or more local school districts, and a question/answer/discussion period.
    IReducing Disproportionality in Special Education:
    Together We Can!

    Intended Audience:

        * State and local district leaders working on disproportionality, including State Performance Plan(SPP) & Annual Performance Report (APR) Indicators B-4, B-9 & 10, and “significant disproportionality.”
        * Regular and special education teachers
        * Building principals
        * Local special education directors
        * Parent Centers
        * Regional Parent TA Centers
        * Institutions of Higher Education

    Intended Outcomes:

        * Increase awareness of the problem of disproportionality and how it impacts student achievement, access to the general education curriculum, and short and long-term outcomes for students with and
          without disabilities.
        * Provide a forum for discussion of the underlying factors that may be contributing to
          disproportionality and what to do about them.
        * Share strategies for addressing disproportionality that are effective at the local level.
        * Increase state and local capacity to address disproportionality through changes in policies,
          procedures, practices and attitudes, values, and acceptance of shared responsibility.
